Craggy Island comes to Stendhal for Comedy Showcase

Stendhal Festival is delighted to announce that the comedy line-up for this year’s multi-award winning event is nothing short of heaven sent.

Joe Rooney and Patrick McDonnell are two of Ireland’s finest funny-men both of whom shot to prominence after unforgettable guest turns in the incomparable Channel 4 comedy series, Father Ted.

The characters of Father Damo and Eoin McLove may have given these comedians their biggest breaks, but both were accomplished stand-ups long before their trips to Craggy Island.

Joe Rooney has performed throughout the US, Oman, Bahrain, China, Canada, all over Europe and the UK. He has performed in festivals in Edinburgh, Moscow, Kansas City, Kilkenny and is looking forward to performing at Stendhal.

Occasionally laconic, at times infectiously manic, and always riveting, Joe’s appearance is sure to lead to plenty of Oasis or Blur debates, along with lots and lots of laughs.

Patrick McDonnell’s whimsical style of stand-up has delighted audiences ever since his character on Father Ted revealed a shocking secret.

Since then Patrick has also appeared on RTE’s Naked Camera and Savage Eye, all the while honing an irreverent and good natured style of stand-up.

This special comedy set will be compared by Ruairi Woods, a shining star on the NI comedy circuit who mixes sharp observations with his naturally engrossing storytelling ability.
