Let the green be seen!

Last week the Government announced that they are to plant 30,000 hectares of trees every year to protect and restore the natural environment, as part of a ten-point plan for “a green industrial revolution.”

We at Stendhal Community have already been doing our bit in partnership with the Woodland Trust. In 2019 we were joined by the First Roe Valley Scouts who helped to plant 400 saplings on the hillside of Karma Valley. A further 400 trees have been positioned around the site this year, thanks again to the Woodland Trust.

All this fits in with our environmental ethos at Stendhal; the saplings will increase biodiversity providing new hedgerows for wildlife, as the trees grow, we can begin to use them as part of environmental workshops during the children’s and family festival and there will be an onsite source of willow to create sculptures and site dressing pieces.

This year we are applying again for more trees and, if successful, we hope you will be able to join us for a tree planting session in the spring. In the meantime, go hug a tree!
