Róise McHugh is a 18 year old singer songwriter performing on ukulele, guitar and keyboards. Listeners are drawn in by her distinctive vocals, and her meaningful lyrics inspired by artists such as Lianne La Havas, Tom Misch, Dodie and Orla Gartland.
Róise was the 2018 winner of the Irish Youth Music Awards Best Songwriter Award with her song “Underlie”. In 2018 she also won the Under 17 Forestside Young Singer Songwriter Competition 2018 with “One of Those Days”, this song went on to secure a slot on Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition Longlist.
During 2020 she performed and recorded her song “Someone You Don’t Need” with the Ulster Orchestra, as part of the “Your Song Now” project with album release in January 2021. In September 21 Róise was the feature of an episode of IN FOCUS, Duncairn Arts Centre’s documentary series, on her career as a musician and songwriter.
