The multi-award winning music and arts festival based in Limavady, introduced the prize two years ago in order to help shine a light on up and coming Northern Irish artists, provide them a platform and have their work be the basis of the festivals visual marketing strategy for the year.
The winning artist will receive a £500 prize, have their work highlighted through Stendhal, have the featured spot in the Stendhal Art Gallery at the event and have their work used in conjunction with Stendhal’s marketing campaign across, posters, billboards, flyers, social media and television.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_single_image image=”15633″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1476438833609{padding-bottom: 62px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”15634″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1476439052296{padding-bottom: 51px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Feature Artist for 2018, Rebecca Mulhern encouraged all up and coming artists to apply for the Prize, saying that the experience was an amazing opportunity.
“I really enjoyed the whole experience of being Stendhal’s feature artist for 2018,” she said.
“Not only was it an honour to have my work displayed in the Gallery in Karma Valley, with some of NI’s best acts playing just a stone’s throw away, but it was wonderful to meet so many passionate people, dedicating their lives to keeping the arts alive in this part of the world.
“For the first time, I got to meet and talk with the people who were viewing and buying my art, as opposed to just installing my work in a local gallery and letting the venue take control. It was great to hear feedback and suggestions for future projects.”
She continued: “I met a lot of fellow artists, from those also displaying their work in the gallery, to those who were festival goers and just came into the gallery for a nosey and a chat – it was an amazing networking opportunity.”
Rebecca concluded: “I would 100% recommend applying to other artists, as it is too good of an exposure and networking opportunity to pass. Even if you are not chosen as the winner, it’s still great to put a portfolio together, get constructive feedback and to have the confidence in yourself knowing how to apply for similar opportunities.”
